There are 3rd party candidates...

Select a candidate that would not lose to Trump.

No candidate is perfect, but let's remember there ARE third-party candidates

Good cause but wrong candidate. Also hard to ask people to vote for you when you say you will quit after getting elected.

cpursley Nov 19, 2016 View on HN

Trump and Hillary were not the only candidates on the ballot.

Probably referring to the lack of support for Andrew Yang in the primaries.

I presume you mean by not gaining enough votes in the free and fair Presidential Election.

AnimalMuppet Feb 15, 2019 View on HN

We had two lemons in that election, and a bunch of people voted for the one that they thought would be less sour. Will they think the same after (so to speak) having to actually taste that sourness for four years? Plausibly not. But the Dems could really help themselves by running someone with less flaws and less baggage. (Though it might be impossible to find someone with more baggage than Trump...)

Vote for the candidate who doesn't make you seriously question whether there will be another election in 4 years?

Just because you don't like the candidate it doesn't mean that nobody else does.
