It's good to push back against glib dismissals, but please don't do it with snarky attacks. That's considerably worse, and degrades the thread for everybody.
You are right. Hostility and sarcasm are not the way to convince people. I think in the most generous reading, the commenter is trying to cushion the criticism by taking a teasing tone, but may have missed the mark a bit.
It may not be your intention, but the tone of your comments is very aggressive. Further, your sarcasm is off-putting. I understand this is a hot-button issue, so maybe take a breather.

Don't be overly pedantic, verbal attacks are a thing.
A constructive argument might be more appropriate than simply trying to deliver an insult in your comment.
