Your "bluntness" added little except rudeness to the discussion. You could have expressed this point in a much less contentious way.

You should try disagreeing without personal attacks.

There’s a way to make that point without being insulting

It's good to push back against glib dismissals, but please don't do it with snarky attacks. That's considerably worse, and degrades the thread for everybody.

You are right. Hostility and sarcasm are not the way to convince people. I think in the most generous reading, the commenter is trying to cushion the criticism by taking a teasing tone, but may have missed the mark a bit.

It may not be your intention, but the tone of your comments is very aggressive. Further, your sarcasm is off-putting. I understand this is a hot-button issue, so maybe take a breather.

I think you have some kind of point but it's lost by being rude

Don't be overly pedantic, verbal attacks are a thing.

A constructive argument might be more appropriate than simply trying to deliver an insult in your comment.

The unsympathetic tone of your argument makes me want to take a position against you, regardless of your rationale. I don't think that provoking opposition is your intention -- so consider this as constructive feedback on your rhetorical style.
