I used to use fountain pens but then discovered the Pigma Micron PN pens: https://www.jetpens.com/Sakura-Pigma-Micron-PN-Pens/ct/4069, which are not too expensive, write very nicely, and can be easily lost, given out, and so forth.
Which fountain pens do you recommend?
This is probably the wrong place to say this, but ... use a fountain pen.
I had that problem before I started using fountain pens. Now I can write pages at a time in my diary like it's nothing. The Pilot Metropolitan is a really good pen and you can get one for $20, maybe it's worth a try!
Well over a decade ago, I spent an afternoon in a stationery store trying out as many pens as I could. I fell in love with the Pentel EnerGel NV 0.5mm (smooth, dark, consistent, feels nice in the hand) and haven't looked back since. I'm glad to see that this website has a high opinion of it too.
I used to enjoy using fountain pens, but now use almost exclusively "Uniball Eye" pens, they look like this: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/251258168346-0-1/s-l1000.jpgThey write just as smoothly as any fountain pen I've used, and are much more robust. They're not refillable, but a pack of 12 costs less than £10 and lasts (me)
As I said in https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45932398 -- try a fountain pen.
For me it's gel pens. Pilot G-Tec ones are great.
Somebody in a previous HN threat recommended the Pentel EnerGel .7mm pens and I picked some up at WalMart. Best pens I've ever used and they're like $1.50 each.
you might want to try fountainpens. they make physical process of writing fun and enjoyable. i like the mindful part of writing slowly with pens.
