what about handmade crafts? there will still (always?) be a market for high-quality goods made by a person, even if machine made goods are of the same quality.
It's all about craftsmanship.
We don't universally praise hand-crafted objects in the real world. We only praise it in situations where the resulting object is significantly aesthetically or functionally unique. In all other cases hand crafting is absolutely considered a quaint curiosity. A good way of thinking of this:* Mass produced bread * Small local bakery <- higher quality product, still use plenty of professional tooling to make it cost effe
Sadly we don't consider things that are economically efficient as craftmanship :)
Not so sure web coding as unique as author makes out.Hand made items - essentially think back to before the industrial age. Most things were hand made. Art, tools, food etcNow we have machines to make things easier. Or we have off shore labour. If it is a precise trade, well sorry but you still need to struggle by hand. You should therefore new charging a premium to do it.
We are craftspeople. Of course we care about how tools are made. Else we'd be at ProductHunt.
Imagine that a craftsman value of his manufacture is the time and the necessary skill applied.
There's always going to be room for craftsmen.
probably means craftsman quality instead of mass produced.
Doubtful there is enough demand for such hand crafted work. Else we wouldn't have starving artists
