Interesting how most if not all of these companies seem to be working remotely.
Lots of work advertised as 'remote' ends up as several days in the office anyway. Also note that companies that are not 'full remote' may well revert their stance on this and go back to a butts-in-seats arrangement whenever they feel like. Some do this as a way to do lay-offs without announcing them as such. Companies that have a full-remote culture are usually much less likely to do this. A good way to gauge this is if the person that is hiring you is themselves remote durin
Lots of remote companies if you look hard enough. Wikipedia and Automatic come to mind.
I've been seeing lots of candidates trying to get at job at my current employer because we allow remote work. People are willing to forego their faang compensations.
Tech companies not offering remote positions are a shame
I've found these distributed companies are only interested in considering candidates who have 'remote' work experience.Another of life's little Catch-22s I suppose.
Apparently not 8-/One trend I see is the offers of "hybrid-remote".Which of course is totally NOT remote. If you have to relocate to take a job, it isn't remote work. With the current lack of job stability/security, I find it hard to believe that bvery many (especially senior) personnel are willing to uproot their families and move across the country...But this is exactly what the biggest of big tech is asking for...
Good remote first companies support this. It's different though. I certainly respect your preference.
I know a few people who have gotten awesome remote positions. They all started as on-site hires who had to move for family reasons, and the companies/startups were flexible enough to let them keep working remotely. I've not seen many (any?) Startups that consider remote hires from te outset.
Sounds like literally every office I've been in. Only thing we can do is start prioritising remote only companies to the point of employers seeing that they lose good talent if they don't go remote
