The majority of comments in this thread, and basically every other HN thread on the topic, are not at all as you describe.

The "HN crowd" consists of more than one person and can therefore have more than one opinion. Surprise!
Stop. There are no "HN people". There are people who post to HN, but the opinions are for the most part surprisingly varied. You are shooting yourself in the foot by making over-generalized comments like this.
