What is the issue with not making more Tesla factories?
Tesla is producing as many cars as they can. The production line for the Model 3 is running at full capacity for some months now. With Tesla expanding into more markets, the number of cars sold in the US have to go down. But with the new Gigafactory in Shanghai coming on line these days, the production numbers are going to climb rapidly.
You are describing low margin mass market product. Tesla wont be able to make those for many years.
Tesla doesn't need a major breakthrough in production technology. They're proposing to produce about as many cars as the NUMMI plant produced in its peak year. And Tesla has far more employees. Tesla's problem is going to be cost. They're trying to build a relatively fancy car at a low price. That's hard.
Tesla is scaling up very well actuallyhttps://www.statista.com/statistics/502208/tesla-quarterly-v...
You don't think worker not allowed to come to you factory won't cause issue to tesla ?
Elon Musk at one point claimed they were going "school" Toyota in manufacturing.https://www.forbes.com/sites/joannmuller/2018/02/16/tesla-th...
Fun fact: if Tesla remained at the same manufacturing speed they're at today, it would take them 10 years to fill this order.
Not a comparison I would choose. He has a pretty good track record of producing a few dozen rockets a year. You could be generous and say a few hundred rocket engines a year. A comedian might say he has the same track record with cars - ba dum - tish!Tesla's inability to quickly ramp up Model 3 production is pretty much one of those "fact" things at this point. The same goes for every model they've brought out, it's taken a long time to get decent production rates on
Tesla is not production limited, that's why it's planning to create 4 more Gigafactories this year, right?
