I have regularly had 2-3h (each way) commutes. It's not because I couldn't change, but because I actively enjoyed the travel each day. Dedicated, no interruption thinking space, and a clear buffer between the stress of work and my home life.
That's half a work day spent in commute man ... why?
I'll put up with a lot in return for not having to spend 2 hours a day in my car commuting.
no.also, my daily commute is only about 20 mins each way, so I guess I have some fortunate circumstances.
For around 3 months I had a commute of 5~6 hours a day. It involved bus, train, subway and a small part walking (~15-20 minutes) During the same time I was getting my driving permit, so I was adding time to attend classes, etcIt was pretty awful, I had to wake up to catch the 4:30 bus most of days to be at work at 7:30, and then got home at around 8pmOnce I had car permit, I was able to reduce it to 1:30 each trip (if you avoid traffic jams), which is also bad, but felt like a huge improve
Trying out the commute is huge. Losing two to three hours a day is a big drain. Worth it if you have an ideal job but not otherwise.
What about time spent commuting?
A two hour+ daily commute does not seem ideal.
Efficient is not spending ~2h commuting each day, every day.
not having a commute does it for me 1000%
