One doesn't appreciate nice coworkers until one has had to deal with the alternative.
Sorry, but your inability to interact with your co-workers makes you a difficult person to employ. A ton of folks don't need this kind of special treatment.
You must be a joy to work with. I feel sorry for the rest of your team, having to deal with that kind of view on everything.
>I guess I'm just good at working with them and ignoring their jerkiness, so I keep ending up working with them? This is definitely a skill. You can have, what seems to be, a bunch of jerks working together but they all have thick-skin so being a jerk to one another doesn't really affect any of them. Effectively hiring for this team is an exercise in finding people who think like they do.Good meshing of personalities can override the predictions of the incompetent/niceness
Yeah after enough projects and jobs, I think the morale and productivity cost of having people with whom are difficult to work is too high. Jerks breed resentment and destroy the motivation of others. Companies are about large organized groups of people accomplishing a goal larger than any given individual could accomplish by themself. Individuals who can’t cooperate with others are literally destroying a core aspect of any company.
Feel like at least one coworker might be better if they were this.
If you lack friendliness, trustworthiness, or competency; I'd prefer you work at a competitor's. All three are deal-breakers on my team.
Personally, I prefer working with less competent pleasant people than more competent unpleasant people. You can find useful stuff to give less competent people (and help them become more competent over time), but it's hard to avoid unpleasant people affecting the morale of a whole team.
there is something called "ethics" and "politeness". when you choose companions and collaborators, these are quite important values, obviously, the guy haven't heard of these words and obviously working with a person like that is not fun, you will then feel ashamed when he does something like this as a part of your team.
“Does not play well with others”he may be capable and probably is, but it doesn’t appear like the dev knows how to deal with less than stellar people.managing sub par people both up and down is an important skill.
