Attention is limited. We cannot see everything on the Internet. We do not have enough time for that. There is a lot of valuable and interesting data on the Internet, but it is not visible. Certainly high quality, low profile blog that ended its development in 2015 will not be ranked high in Google.Media platform, search engines monetize content. YouTube channels need to churn new content every week or so to stay relevant and to stay watchable. Our society produces content, not quality, no

It's not a Google problem, it's a web problem.Everything is based around SEO spam. If someone has a website, and they're producing content, their point is to monetize the browsing of the website itself, or promote their main product via the website. This incentivizes a certain kind of content, which is marketing content. These days I'm back to searching social networks like Reddit or Hacker News for (at least somewhat) unbiased information.Google is a fuzzy-search a

This is not only with printers, but with everything you search for, it makes me so sad! Everything is just full of SEO optimised nonsense. In the past it was so easy to search for something and actually find it. Now you only find crappy sites, full of ads, pop ups and brain-dead content optimised for SEO. It looks like Google has stepped away from reputation based scoring to a score that is too much focused on the textual content of sites. I hope this creates opportunities for new players in the

I feel like I can't do a google search for anything technical without the top results being horrible MFA sites with content scraped from mailing lists/stackoverflow and completely plastered with ads. This might not be the same as autoblogging, but it's driving me insane and Google is definitely doing a poor job.

Google has gotten progressively worse year in year out. Its promoting farmed content of stackoverflow posts riddled with ads over the actual posts. It's making money that way sure but at the dismay if it's users. This I think opens up the space for more niche search engines that actually work for what you're looking for. I'd take a search based off of only indexing sites I actually care about over the dribble it's peddling any day. Bring on the competition

I have noticed search quality has dropped off for anything related to video games. You used to be able to search for guides for a specific level or class and it would return high quality content usually on game specific sites or maybe a wiki. Now its all AI blogspam that just regurgitates the same low quality content over and over in a generic article format while maximizing ad space. They are bad on desktop, but unusable on mobile. The wikis are never the top response, and well made guide sites

Either google failed, or the pop science listicles have won ... they're not passively being indexed, sorry you found them by mistake. They actively and aggressively create completely artificial content, tailored not at humans but at google, so that they can push the latest stupid ad for some telephone company on you. It's like bitcoin if you want - they compete for something so useless the entire concept becomes a huge waste of time. Search engine SEO is like hashrate-dependent token

I think what kills google searches is seo bullshit. Even the worst sites with seo are now on the first page. In the past, SEO really forced quality, but now it's enough to make your website compatible with bullshit like amp.

Is Google search getting worse or are spammers playing SEO better?

I definitely agree on your points about the majority of the web being low quality noise. Not just in a "humans produce garbage" sense but also that various SEO and marketing techniques have created a sea of automatically generated nonsense content that search engines now have to wade through.I also find searching for anything remotely niche has become extremely difficult because of this. Example being finding instructions on how to install some bike parts today. There were articles
