I'd be interested in that too. There are countries which implement it effectively.

If only there were other countries that had already tried it so we can see how it went there

I like the idea you mention. Sounds like it can be used for many endeavours.OP, do you have any traction in developed nations?

fortylove Feb 16, 2023 View on HN

Not in NYC, but I wish you the best of luck. Getting ideas like this tried out and tested is important to proving there is a better way to act as responsible stewards. I hope it succeeds!

I think it's an interesting idea. Worth trying in a small country with competent government where a cockup has no effect on me.

Well, this has been already tried in my country, and been survived, but yours may possibly indeed have it in the future.

Sounds like a trial. Would be great for more governments to try new ideas & evaluate the results like any business might.

It'd be fantastic if we could persuade some local governments to try this and work out the bugs. If it went well, it could be adopted by more and more locales.

Maybe we could try one of the many models used successfully in other countries?

Down-voters: explain, please? You don't think the experience from this type of policy being tried somewhere else is relevant? That it won't backfire?
