This seems like a very unusual bug by Apple standards. Makes me consider upgrading to new macbooks...
AFAIK this problem seems to have gone away with the M1 based Macs. Can anyone confirm?
I've used 4 different MBPs during the last 3 major versions and have never had this issue.
The problem discussed in the article happens for MacBooks too
Weird, my MBP from 2015 runs fine. Don't think I have ever updated the OS either.
Hi this is a known bug that affects many apps on the Mac - we have written about it in the FAQ's on the site and also in the GitHub repo.If you re-boot your machine that generally sorts it out, we think it is caused by machines with dual GFX cards and dynamic switching.
This is intermittent and has been an issue since Catalina (on x86) and occurs on my (fresh install, no migration, nothing weird) M1 mini on occasion.
Starting with Catalina, it does not fix the issue. I had to send back a Macbook Pro 16 2019 because of that and go back to Linux.
OS upgrade might be the problem. I'm still running Mojave!
Still occurs with my 2021 M1 MBP
