Maybe this is a US-specific problem? I'm not American and the public education system is actually doing a great job in most developed countries.

What country with enviable educational results operates this way? Genuinely curious

Basic premises of public schooling in the US. The rest of the world, not so much.

That your country has a great education system doesn't mean the US doesn't.

You should qualify that with American public education, there are lots of countries in the world that do better. In fact the country at the top of the table has pretty much banned private education.

Same story for education [1]. I won't be moved by cries of "we're exceptional" until the US actually tries adopting the policies that have worked so well for Europe and Canada.[1] https://www.oecd.org/pisa/PISA%202018%20Insights%20and%20Int...

Americans really think their schools don't provide solid education, it's so weird. Look at your PISA scores, they're reasonable. Could be a lot better, sure, but so could almost everything. Especially if you take into account how most countries with better education systems have less than a 1/3 of the population, are mostly developed monocultural nation-states, so a lot more capable of standardizing public services nationwide.

I'm not sure that's specific to the US, and I don't even think that particular teaching method has been used here in Quebec, yet we still see broadly similar literacy rates and levels.Last I checked US students rank well and are near the top in most education global rankings, so I think bad education is more of a global problem than Americans think it is. Maybe that's outdated though, I'll do my research.

It's more like "it's like the US, but without the education"

Should be very easy for you to rattle off a list of countries doing better then. You may find the below link helpful in your quest.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programme_for_International_...
