The DHH Problem:DHH is an intelligent and successful person. DHH invented rails. And now I can get paid for writing Ruby even though I enjoy it.So thanks DHH (sincerely).But. There's a problem. DHH is Ruby famous. Which means that DHH is extremely visible. Some might say disproportionately visible in the ruby community. Why is that a problem? Because DHH is the Fox News of Ruby. He's noisy, he's reactionary, he's anti-intellectual. He's very sure that h
I don't know DHH personally, but seeing what he did by introducing ruby on rails, plus listening to his thoughts via the rework podcast, also reading about his company's move away from the hyperscaler cloud providers, and now both the omakube and omarchy offerings...yeah, we need more folks (with his kind of fame of sorts) to help others as well.
I don't think DHH is being a jerk. He's just got an opinion, and I guess some of these folks are a little too sensitive. He built Rails for him - and it has taken on a life of its own. And that's awesome.I think the Merb guys are brilliant - I was really impressed by them at the MerbCamp in SD this past September. I'm excited about Rails 3.
yep! DHH thought the same too :) http://twitter.com/dhh/status/8015012471
Doesn't DHH have a history of chud opinions? Why are you commending him?
Just adding this in case DHH happens to be searching for himself on HN (I wouldn't be suprised at all). And who cares. This whole thing is flagged.Hey, DHH. You're a wanker, mate. And, speaking as a Londoner, you haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about.Stick to Rails, something you actually seem proficient at.
I don't think that DHH is feeling that his experience is any different than other maintainers. He's just trying to explain it to the masses. Maybe he's hoping that a few borderline whiners will catch a clue and decide to put up or shut up... maybe he's just venting.Regardless, I sympathize with him. I love rails. I love where his leadership has taken the framework steadily over the years.
Does no one remember DHH's first Rails keynote?https://images.app.goo.gl/JvyvwdnNi936uhvk8He's always been like this, if anything has mellowed out. Dunno why people have a problem with it now.As for his politics, he's still left wing, just in a pragmatic euro way, versus the current zeitgeist in North America...Anyhow, just more dev drama, just like how people someho
Did I miss something here? What does this have to do with DHH (David Heinemeier Hansson)?
Looks like DHH is getting his way
