The cluster discusses workarounds like Cryptomator, TrueCrypt, and Boxcryptor to add client-side encryption to Dropbox, or alternatives like SpiderOak and Seafile that encrypt data before upload, addressing Dropbox's lack of native client-side encryption.

Things like dropbox should be perfect for this, since the files are encrypted you don't need to trust anybody

None, but consider that you can use Truecrypt over Dropbox. It's smart enough to upload only changed segments.

Consider SpiderOak or similar things that encrypt data on the client side and never upload the key.

did you try duplicati? the fact that dropbox doesn't have client side encryption is a MAJOR issuealso duplicati is open sourced

Check out cryptomator. Encrypted vaults for wherever you want, so also Dropbox

Dropbox is the weak link, as your encrypted datafile is likely accessible to a determined 3rd party.

Why not just encrypt everything in Dropbox?

In your first line, you say to drop Dropbox due to lack of client side encryption, and in your second line you mention that you can just roll your own while still using Dropbox...?

Also love you can encrypt your files at rest. Something which Dropbox does not offer.

Because you can use Dropbox as a raw storage system by encrypting stuff on the client ?
