As a long time DDG user, Google Search is better. I end up searching again on Google about half of the time I search for technical stuff (software) or for non English sites. I just feel DDG didn't understand what I want and Google usually does. I don't login on Google and use a Firefox extension to clear the cookies so Google might only rely on the search term, not my history, but who knows.
Yep, I haven't used Google search in a few years now, ddg has been better at not spamming me
I started using DDG this year. I've found the main thing that drives me back to Google (and frequently) is searching for anything where freshness of results matters; that's where I'm seeing the biggest difference in quality of results.
I find DDG useful for probably ~75% of searches, so I keep it as my default, and switch over to Google if needed. What aspect of DDG "sucks" for you?
I have been using DDG for over a year now. I have to use Google/!g at least once daily. Especially with forums/blog posts, it shows older, outdated info more often than Google. And my searches mostly consist of programming related topics too.I continue use DDG to support them but I do wish their results were better.
I've mostly switched to DDG. Google gives much better results in some cases but for the vast majority of my searches DDG works fine.
I’ve been using DDG for about a year and find it works great. I never end up using google. Are there particular types of searches you have trouble with?
I used DDG for years but switched to Google and StartPage because DDG just doesn’t work well for the types of searches I tend to perform. I found myself using !g for everything.
I have been using DDG as the default on all of my browsers for several years. However, there are still searches where I am not finding exactly what I want, and using the !g to perform the same search on Google comes up with better results. I don’t use Google unless I have to, and agree it has been degraded, but the idea that it’s now useless is unrealistic.
I use ddg as my daily driver for about 3 years as well. I do find that searching things like exact error messages from programs are a bit better with !g, but almost all other searches are comparable or better.
