Arenβt google searches just ads anyway?
Google Search is ad-backed site. Especially for highly commercial queries. They just prefer internet users to consume their ads, rather than the ads of the content creators.
Google is optimized around showing ads, not returning relevant search results.
I'm pretty sure their search results intentionally suck to make their ads more valuable.
Google search quality was deliberately harmed to boost ad revenue. Forcing you to search multiple times and refine your query means you see more ads and are more likely to click on them. Ads were also obviously prioritized over real search results long ago. The good guys within Google who wanted to preserve search quality lost the internal debate to the ad people. Emails that surfaced in the recent antitrust case strongly indicated this.
Google search is optimized to deliver more ads. Providing the result you want quickly is against this.
Well, why not - Google intends the user to conflate ads with search query results.
I want a search engine that penalizes results by the amount of advertising on the page. :)
Ad impression can be dependent on search query, if they modify query to show ads, they make money they otherwise wouldn't have and worsen results
Google could keep the search result and just hide the ad.
