Then it should not allow apps to ask for permissions they don't need. Just a thought..

I think Google should improve the way apps can ask access to these things. just telling us whats going to be used is not enough IMO, in fact i see this kind of dialog so many times and just tap through. I should be given option to restrict access after the fact if i see it fit.

Because a lot of these apps claim such and such permission is required and won't run until you grant the permission

I think this won't work because the app can get away by asking (insisting) for more permission than it actually needs.

More permissions are not the right answer. Too many and users get conditioned to blindly clicking accept.

If it's such a non-issue, just ask for the permission! That's what these granular permissions are for. To allow the OS to lock down features to stop naughty apps being naughty but still allow apps we want to have them to do their business.Sneaking around like this only begs the question: what else aren't they telling you?

If the user is prompted to give permission for the application to have access to this information then at least you know which ones are doing it and can avoid using them if you are worried about it.

I'd much rather see this as an on-demand permission request... when I see permissions that make no sense for what I think an app is, I tend not to install said app.. right off the bat.I don't know if Android offers similar on-demand permissions, but it would be a much nicer experience.

This sounds like you're implying that all apps must require invasive permissions which is wholly incorrect.

I feel like this is just going to end up like phone (android at least) app permissions where they give some vague justification to ask for every capability under the sun.
