You're getting downvoted a lot, but you're not wrong. Game companies, like Ubisoft, have been getting a lot of heat in particular for this lately...

Feel like it's worth linking to the Stop Killing Games campaign (https://www.stopkillinggames.com/) here! See also other recent thread on this story (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41665593) where one of the organizers commented on the relevance (<a href="https://news.ycombinator.com/item?

Clearly most people aren't bothered by it as it's an extremely popular game that has remained popular months after release. If it was just a quick low quality cash grab people would have moved on, but they haven't. So you have to come to terms with the fact that reality is rejecting your particular perspective on the issue.

Many well known game developers disagree with this notion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIvHkaV6Ri8 that this is a huge problem. All the sources you see seem unhappy because those stories get the most attention, but it doesn't mean that those things are occurring often or everywhere.

This could be said for many many games.Especially given how incentivized youtubers, news (basically blogs) sites, twitter, etc are all encouraged to be negative or at least drum up controversy for clicks.I know for me I played Cyberpunk at launch and loved it, ran into a few bugs but it was nothing show stopping for me. The thing that bothers me most about the typical gamer described in this post is that they insist on punishing people for having opinions that aren't the same as their own. I know that happens in any field, but gamers are awful. If you like Nintendo you're a baby, if you like Call of Duty you're an idiot. No one is allowed to disagree. Look at Phil Fish (creator of Fez). He shared his opinions on the state of gaming all the time and people ridiculed him to the point that he cancel

More than 1% if the market will react with hostility due to this. Gamers are a hornet's nest when it comes to anti-consumer practices.

If only there was a way to enjoy their games without supporting the assholes behind it...

I remember following the development of Bioshock Infinite and Starcraft 2 for years, and then being disappointed at the content that ended up cut between the previews and the releases. Since then I just don't follow early hyping of video games. So if I were someone who liked CDPR's Games, and I bought Cyperpunk and enjoyed it, I wouldn't say "Man I'm so outraged, they promised x feature and the game didn't ship with x feature", I'd say "Haha Cyborg

Some video games are great. Video game culture is... not great. I think this guy is upset with the culture and companies in gaming rather than the games themselves. Surprised he didn't say anything about loot boxes.
