Sounds like this judge is in the agencies pockets.
There is no shortage of crooked judges. Especially, lately. We should see this judge unseated and disbarred. Abuse of government authority is much, much worse than anything private citizens can be guilty of.
It's not just Police, it's judges and politicians too.
Sounds like you're saying judges are corrupt and dont care if they have proof or not?
Yes, sometimes there are corrupt judges. Note that the article doesn't say whether the owners of the detention centers approached the judges or whether the judges approached them. Both sides had to be evil (and know the other side was evil) for the scandal to happen. If you read more into the cash for kids scandal, you'll see it was the tip of the iceberg. The level of nepotism in Luzerne county was absurd and the state did nothing to fix it. There were judges abusing their positions
He's no ordinary judge. He's the judge, jury and executioner, who has clearly abused his powers for corruption before[2].https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41449560[2] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41449487
This is an interesting point, and depending on the jurisdiction, some judges are elected officials. It should come back on the judge that he or she authorized this abuse of power. Unfortunately, the feedback loop between the (hypothetical) judicial backstop on the system and the enforcers of the law tends to be left open by ignorance. It would be good for local political activists in Atlanta to make sure that the judge who authorized this warrant has a significantly curtailed career.
what about corrupt courts? or at least biased courts?
This reminds me how one of the most insane things in the world, it seems to me, are democratically elected judges and prosecutors. While handing down judgments and deciding whether to prosecute a marginal case, they have to ask themselves: what will win me reelection in n years.
The court is corrupt. They may not realize it, but that's what this is.
