For 15$ at my operator I've got two numbers sharing the same unlimited text, unlimited sms/MMS plan with 30 GB of data. Actually it's 15$ max, if I use less I pay less. The "contract" that I have can be withdrawn with a month's notice and that's a standard service, so paying $60 for 6GB sounds extremely expensive.
It might be worth considering a MVNO such as Mint or USMobile - you can end up with monthly bills of around 30usd or less with unlimited call/text and considerable data allowance.
I'm surprised how expensive this is. In Australia I pay A$25/month (around US$17) for unlimited talk & SMS and 18 GB of fast 4G data: https://www.aldimobile.com.au/plans/value-packs/.
With T-mobile I pay $100 (+ ~$8 tax/fees) for 2 smartphones with unlimited everything (data is never cut off or throttled as well). Look into a new plan!
$46/month is more than my voice/data costs.
We’re paying $12/line/month + $10/GB over 500MB, but the data never expires. I’ve only had to pay for an extra GB a few times in the last few years, so it’s ~$14/month/line.The sms and voice limits are high enough not to matter.
$30/mo is nowhere near cheap - go check plans eg over here in Europe, where you can easily pay €7.50/mo or less, data plan included.
Oh wow, that is expensive. Here in the UK on prepay Three offer 25GB/30 days (marketed as "unlimited") for $25 (£15). Bonus: You get LTE where available for no extra charge.
I would be with you, but Virgin got me on their $25 / month unlimited data, 300 minutes plan. I hardly talk on my phone, but being able to tether from anywhere has been a big win.Now I think they charge $35 / month for the same plan.
They really aren't expensive anymore in the US if you shop around. You can get unlimited data, talk, text for $18/mo per month from US mobile, and you can even choose which network to use Verizon, tmobile, or ATT. US mobile has a new feature that lets you switch the carrier network for $2 per switch.
