“Praise and support of the storming of the US Capitol” is non violent for you?

They are referring to the part when people with weapons stormed the US Capitol building in order to stop part of the peaceful transfer of power.

How was “it” an insurrection? What is even “it”? Are you talking about the entire group that heard Trump’s speech and marched to the Capitol? Because if so then the vast majority protested peacefully outside the barriers and broke no laws. Are you talking about the ones that trespassed onto the Capitol, because the vast majority broke no laws that leftist groups haven’t in recent years in their own illegal invasions of the Capitol*. Are you talking about those that stole things or vandalized thi

I think they meant the one with the unprecedented violent riots in the Capitol that resulted in some folks dying. Could be wrong.

They believed they were properly mobilized. What's lunacy is inciting your supporters to be violent and try to overthrow democracy. Replace insurrection with child porn and see if your argument still stands.

I mean they were chanting "Hang Mike Pence", tried to stop the certification of votes, and fought with and injured officers inside the capitol. That meets my bar for "a violent uprising against an authority or government". Also sword + handing out pamphlets != gun + breaking into the capitol.EDIT: removed "and directly killed at least 1 officer" due to reply.

Hopefully Trump (called for insurrection and dictatorship), and the people who constructed a gallows outside and stormed and sacked the capitol (actual insurrection) get a timeout. This should not be controversial if you like living in a democracy.

Mmmm, yes, let's compare:- A group storming the capitol of the US after being fed a steady stream of lies regarding an election result, with the President himself pushing them to go.versus- A group protesting after yet-another-person-of-color was murdered, pushing for equality and a check on police brutality.Totally checks out. ;P

What took place at the Capitol wasn’t an insurrection or a coup (https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/01/06/why-this-wasnt-a-coup-c...). It was by and large a protest, like numerous past protests at the Capitol that didn’t generate the same media coverage due to bias (<a href="https://www.allsides.com/blog&#
