Go buy a flip phone which has smartphone capabilities. You can use it for basic smartphone requirements (SMS, browser, camera, etc) but you really wouldn't /want/ to. This is the issue with smartphones - ease of use means you are constantly grabbing for it.
I'm yet to understand all the attention smartphones get. Perhaps there are users out there to whom it is appealing, but personally I don't see the need for the features they bring out like address books and instant messaging in the phone or taking photos. These are things I can already do using standalone applications or other devices. I would rather a phone be simple and most importantly reliable and fast.
I use a dumb phone. I don't have a personal need for anything more.
at that point, what's the point of using a phone?
i get it. i want one of those. the problem is that most cellphones are not actual cellphones, they are entertainment machines. they are a pocket tv / social media feed place. most usage for my normal friends is for that.
true, but without those there would be no point in having a smart phone. (yet)
My phone is and always has been a little dumbphone and can't do those distractions. Question: do you really need those features that distract you?
All I want to use my phone for is to occasionally talk, easily text, and snap photos or videos. It's ridiculous that I have to own a smartphone to do this with.
Another good reason to not use a smartphone.
You have felt the need for more desktop RAM but haven't done so.I haven't felt the need for a smart phone, and haven't done so.These are different, yes?FWIW, I've felt the need to not have a smart phone. My feature phone is small; I can drop it in just about any pocket. It's cheap; I've had four phones which ended up in the laundry (see 'just about any pocket'), and destroyed phones other ways, and $20/phone means I don't worry about it.
