Musk's companies receive significant government money.
It’s not being downvoted due to any inaccuracy, but rather the implied positive sentiment about Musk’s involvement with the government.A more pessimistic view might be: Musk’s businesses have technological advantages but are financially over-leveraged. Their present success relies on heavy government subsidies while their future success depends on complete privatization of government functions.
The US government is throwing money hand-over-fist at SpaceX, the idea that the Biden administration is artificially obstructing SpaceX is not based in reality. Meanwhile, Trump is publicly anti-EVs and anti-self-driving-cars, so Musk's rabid cheerleading cannot be motivated by economic reasons.
SpaceX and Tesla would have crashed and burned had it not been for government, of all levels, subsidizing them. Something that, now that he has benefited from it, Musk is against others having.
We are giving Elon Musk our tax dollars in the form of NASA contracts and subsidies for Tesla cars. He turns around and uses the money to undermine our democracy, while holding secret conversations with Putin.
Moon mission 3bln grant awarded by government person in power that after awarding it promptly quit and went to work for Musk. And who knows what happened around starlink and military.Tons of subsidies for Tesla. Tax cuts. All of his companies benefit hugely from tax money yet people see him as incredible self made billionaire.
It's clear the government has been actively attacking Musk and his companies for any and all reasons it can find. Tesla gets no invite to whitehouse EV summit despite being the sole reason for the current EV movement2. Tesla model 3/Y initially barred from new EV subsidies3. SpaceX being investigated by justice department for not hiring foreigners (literally i
Musk receives billions of dollars in government handouts. Tesla and Space X could not exist without the government pouring our tax dollars on them. I don’t think it’s too far of a leap to suggest Musk’s role in destabilizing BTC came at the request of his patrons in the government.Or he’s just incredibly stupid. Maybe a bit if both.
> "Musk is pretty clearly against this government"Musk is a military and intelligence contractor. He makes bank on the government. Look at his actions, not his words.
All three of Musk's most recent ventures (SolarCity, Tesla, and SpaceX), depend either on direct or indirect government subsidies. It's not just that Musk is a workaholic, or possibly innovative, but his ability to "work" the system that sets him apart. US tax payers are paying a significant portion of the bills for his ventures. Since I agree with his goals, it doesn't personally bother me very much but it still is something worth thinking about.
