The cluster centers on criticisms of Safari's lack of support for modern web APIs and standards, Apple's reluctance to adopt new features, and the resulting challenges for web developers targeting iOS and macOS.

I wish more developers would realize Safari doesn't support most modern browser APIs.

Doesn't Apple have a history of dragging their feet with adopting new technologies in Safari? Not sure why this would be any different...

If they're supporting Safari, then no, not without something additional.

They have never been supported in Safari for iOS, where it matters much more.

Can you expand on which features Apple is reluctant to implement in Safari?

LoSboccacc Apr 3, 2018 View on HN

that only works with safari of course because they don't want chrome having feature parity or, gasp, being better!

"Safari is not supported yet"Is Safari really that hard to develop for? Name one feature this site needs that won't run in safari. WebKit has been getting a lot better recently, I feel like not supporting Safari at this point is because of one of three things: you're too lazy to try it, don't have a Mac, or you are stuck to the opinion that Safari is somehow behind Chrome or Firefox in major ways.I use safari daily and *never* have a problem with a site not working

Odd thing to leave out since Safari runs on 100% of iOS devices.

Lack of support for one.. Safari doesn't have the market share to force developers to support it when it's painful to work with..
