Firefox must make it easier to switch the default Google search engine for the address bar.

Why y'all going to your fav search engine first to search with another search engine? This is built into chrome and probably Firefox and every other browser

You can set this up at the browser level to work with any sort of search. Look up Firefox Quick Searches (a similar thing exists in Chrome).

In Firefox you can change the default search engine to DDG. Then you just type your search query straight into the address bar.

Bing needs this, Firefox and Chrome will not search themselves.

"When Firefox autocompletes the URL of one of your search engines, you can now search with that engine directly in the address bar by selecting the shortcut in the address bar results."This is what I've been missing from chrome!

In chrome you just add an 's' in the URL in your default search engine settings.

Initial searches are very promising. Is there a good way to add this as my default search engine in Firefox?

amadeuspagel Sep 26, 2023 View on HN

That's still the case in chrome: chrome://settings/searchEngines

You can set a Default Search Engine in Firefox, and search from your browser without having to go to any URL first.
