god i wish my power costs were not 0.38€/kwh for me renting servers is cheaper all around(https://www.hetzner.com/de/dedicated-rootserver/ax41-nvme)
Great idea. They are 1/6th the cost of the server, though.
No.. you can get huge dedicated servers for like $50/month.
The issue is $370 per month is still a lot of money. While you can probably archieve the same performance on $5-10 vm or bare metal server.
As opposed to what? Hosting your own server for $120/yr in electricity, but with hardware costs on top?
I think he's referring to how much it would cost if you paid for a server like that through a hosting provider.
That sounds really expensive for the server.
At this "scale" a single 3Gbps guaranteed pipe is ~330€/mo on OVH. You could simply buy ten of them just to be sure and still be paying 1/3 a month of what that would cost you for a day in the cloud. That includes all the maintenance and power for the equipment, you simply have to know how to use the OS.
Offer a cheaper solution and find out!Servers cost money each month, as do the services they use.
$1000 a month on servers would do it. They could probably do something premium $10/m to pay for it.
