Are eyes that good at generating signal or our brain is just good at imagining things it does not see?
This is how the human visual system works.
This seems like it could have been inspired by how human vision works.
Your "mind's eye" is getting information from your actual eyes through your optic nerves and cortex. This is how we know it is a physical mechanism, we can affect it in predictable ways with lesions, drugs and other physical methods.
the magic happens in the brain of the user not the rods.the brain can sense a lot more than we think.
I believe the "magic" is happening in the visual cortex.
I thought it was an artifact of how our vision system works, not input to that system.
Also relies on quirks and tricks of human sight and cognition to make sense!
That's like saying that your brain doesn't understand anything, it just analyzes the visual data coming in via your eyes and predicts the next step of reality
What if your brain sees it but you don't see it?
