Have you considered psychedelics at all? Changed my life you do not need dependence on it like SSRIs.
SNRIs nearly killed me and SSRIs were not much better. LSD saved me. So there is some anecdata.
I'm not on meds anymore. Did try them for a month though. Worked great aside from giving me stress as it wore off. Really weird to feel stressed for literally actually no reason. What it did give me is a look into what functioning normally-ish would look like, Which has helped enormously.I'm not a huge fan of medication myself, but if I were you I'd definitely give it a shot. You can always stop if it's not your thing and there's a fair chance at lasti
Because it's pretty damned severe with SNRIs. You probably only tried some SSRIs. Turns out not all medications are identical.
Same situation as you. SSRIs seemed mostly ineffective, or sometimes had crazy side effects (will never forget Effexor-induced zaps despite tapering off following the directions to the letter). Bupropion has been fantastic for me since I started and I wished I'd found it 20 years ago.
Ah, interesting. I checked with my friend, and it turns out they had gotten mixed up. They were prescribed benzos, not beta blockers. What made you stop taking them? My friend has been making good progress without them, but still gets some rough days. And what supplements/medicines do you use, apart from phenibut?(To be clear, they've already spoken with a doctor, psychologist, consulted drugs.com listing of side effect, etc.)
For my anxiety/depression SSRIs helped. I am much better without any side effects.
I've responded fairly well to SSRIs, but I think it might be significantly influenced by how bad I had gotten without them. The side-effects I endure are objectively terrible (I hit almost all of the common ones and most of the uncommon ones) but the change for me has been night and day. I've always wanted to try Ketamine because of what I've heard about its effects on depression, but I've never gotten the opportunity. I do hope this starts a broader conversation about peo
You could be right, but on the other hand many qualified professionals prescribe Zoloft or Xanax and be done with it. A personal account (which in fact many of the comments here on HN are) can be very helpful, if only as a reference when talking to real professionals.
Obviously, talk to medical professionals first and foremost, but based on some (non-professional) review of the literature, it seems to suggest that SSRIs solve the problem “flawlessly” in around half of those prescribed. For the other half, it doesn’t seem to work out as well (perhaps misdiagnoses?), but if you were prescribed these drugs, I would very much take these chances. If it doesn’t work, you can just stop taking it (at the doctor’s advice) and the side-effects will clear up shortly, so
