I am not a lawyer... couldn't the same argument be made about tax loopholes and companies 'absuing them'?
Sounds like the tax laws needs changing. I don’t know how we can blame companies from leveraging loopholes if they are available.
"Loophole" implies that these strategies are meant to circumvent the explicit purpose of the law, but these tax breaks are intended. There is no such thing as "closing a loophole", only purposefully and meaningfully deciding that raising tax on corporations is a thing to do.
Because of loopholes inside the tax code.
guess who lobbies the government for these type of loopholes to begin with?
"That is not how things should work in a system based on the rule of law and fairness". If you find a loophole in the fiscal system and exploit, you are following the rules, but at the same time, you are clearly robbing the society as a whole. In France, this is a fraud. see https://xkcd.com/1494/
Shaming them for what? They're simply taking advantage of the confusing and loophole filled tax laws you provided them.Nobody pays more taxes than they absolutely have to. If you don't want people to abuse loopholes, fix the loopholes.
Great, do his companies take advantage of this loophole?
“Loophole” is just a legal tax move people don’t like.Note - it’s still legal. So your idea is to punish people for doing legal things?
If it's being used to avoid taxes then yes, the loophole should be closed.
