It looks cool but it's impossible to get an invite if you don't know someone already on it. I tried to contact an active member to ask for an invite and didn't even get a response, then I tried a second one and same thing… Since then I think that either it's that kind of community and I wouldn't fit in anyway, or maybe I was just unlucky and randomness didn't make me contact the right people.
I'm interested in who in this community got access. Perhaps start an invite circle? Or d'you think that's too informal for this community?(My email address is [email protected], if this gets rolling.)
I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member:)What would probably happen is that unless a strong initial group existed, seeding the website with good content, the site would die.I get it you are not satisfied with HN sometimes, I know, me too. And it's happening more frequently. But the solution is not to open a club where only the cool guys will hang out. Because the cool guys are so demanded that they will choose where they will go. You have to offer more than a ma
Didn't know about the group, thanks for the pointer.Seems like the group is invite only (my signup is pending for approval). If you have a minute, would be great if you could help me post the link there, otherwise I'll wait for the approval and do it later.
> You can’t sign up. You get invited - by someone who’s already in. And once you’re in, you can co-host, explore, and help shape the culture. Then why are you marketing it and seeking members? Invite someone.Besides, if you want to build gated communities, that is your business, but this seems like a really odd thing to be promoting as an app... and definitely is not a legit "Show HN", as they are supposed to be something we can actually try, and then discuss with the creator.
Happens with every community as it gets larger. Guess the right thing to do is try and create/join invite only groups
Why not sign up[1] then wait and see? I didn't see any indication that they are trying to form some kind of exclusive club.1. http://todogroup.org/#join
I'm interested! Have been looking at this myself, but wasn't sure what form such a community / activity should have. This can of course be overcome by going one level up, and make the form one of the initial discussion topics.
could you elaborate? I have heard of these invite-only HN groups, but I have a hard time believing people would care so much about some online forum.
Do you have a group for us to join?
