There is nothing wrong with a space cowboy western, and in fact that's one of the reason people love the original trilogy: plenty of original (for the time) action, good guys on one side and BIG BAD guys on the other, so it is easy to takes sides, add some cheap mysticism (the "force" stuff) and the redemption of the baddest of the bad guys. Not the most original of the plots [1], but good enough and simple enough that most people can enjoy it. That's not the issue with the

There's just so many Star Wars movies, and so many Marvel movies, and while I've seen most in theaters, they are basically juvenile blockbuster cookie cutter crap. The first 3 star wars films where important for their era, but most of the later ones are just forgettable sci-fi (for non-discerning fans). Not to mention letting down parts of the canon (e.g. the Solo movie, or "Kylo Ren", a hipster/teenage goth abomination that took Darth Vader's iconic status and pi

The prequel and new generation Star Wars movies are SW content and are mediocre to downright criminally awful. I’d given up on SW completely. Yet The Mandalorian delighted me and I’m craving for more. So no, clearly being content isn’t enough by a long shot.

That is true. Also? The Star Wars universe at the time felt open & surprising, like anything could happen. By the end of the newest prequels, it felt like the movies were highly constrained by everyone’s expectations. They were Marvel-ified by Abrams, and then they handed over the franchise to a more controversial film maker who couldn’t quite pull it off either, and then you had an impossible situation that Abrams made the best he could of, but was ultimately a mess.Whatever. Nowadays, I

You guys are excluding the George Lucas movies from discussion right? In my opinion nothing ever came even close and I gave up on SW after the second Kylo Ren movie. Rouge one was cool though, also first episodes of Mandalorian..Should I really try Andor after all the bad stuff Disney made?A few days ago I watched the new LILO and Stitch and that was great, so maybe good people still work at Disney …

Could be true. Some of the last star wars feel like the storyline was made by teenagers.

Considering the last iteration of Star Wars (the prequels), i'd say it's very hard to agree with you.

Many productions in the SW universe had to live up to the movies and many have. Decades ago a single trilogy was good enough to kick off a whole Star Wars novel market and get one of its mentioned planets, Coruscant, officially adopted by George Lucas.Books like the Thrawn oder Bane trilogies would have been great material for films and much better than anything Disney put out so far. Knights of the Old Republic set the bar for how to retell A New Hope and makes The Force Awakens look like a

For what it's worth, I enjoyed the new star trek series... The only thing that made the newer star wars prequels worth watching were yoda fight scenes.
