But won't you miss the benefits of amazon prime ?

thepasswordis Feb 5, 2024 View on HN

This is what amazon prime does.

I don't see the benefits for someone with Amazon prime. Am I missing something?

i canceled my prime last year. it took effect a few days ago. these days, i order from them so infrequently, i am okay with paying extra for it to get to me sooner.(the tipping point for me was getting tackled by huge American Thursday Night Football banner ads with no way of turning them off. I hate football.)

I wish amazon would have a prime version of prime that would only show items that aren’t fufilled by other companies. I would pay 30% more for that. I’m on the fence on canceling prime already. The value ad is diminishing .

I think 150m are poor at managing money. You can get Prime for free at almost any time (I've gotten it for free EVERY time I've ordered from AMZ since Prime existed) and cancelled before getting charged.

Have cancelled mine a few years back as I realized the only thing I was using is 2-day shipping but I have been just ordering multiple items which exceed $25 to leverage FREE shipping and usually they ship fast. So no need for Prime for me!

they've been introducing it in some things over time. I think this may be my exit call. I've been using it less over time, I usually order enough to get the free shipping, etc, so ditching prime might be the best option as hint, if enough people do it.

This is true even on Amazon. Very often the Prime price is exactly the same as their third-party price + shipping. This will be my last year of Prime.

Who cares? It's a competitive advantage they no longer have and less value for my expensive Prime subscription
