works for venezuela and all other commie countries so you know, why don’t we try to become that too :)
The leftist tone of this article gave me allergy. As a Venezuelan that emigrated to another country to escape from the disaster that the so called socialism (which is more like a pseudo-comunism) was installing on the country, I cannot be balanced with the words of the author when he uses Chavez and embargo in the same statement. All I saw in 12 years was a horrible government that had in USA the perfect excuse to cover his negligence.I understand your feelings fellows US citizens, but pleas
This can go both ways. Have you heard of Venezuela?
> A lot of Venezuelans are happy about it.Which Venezuelans? I ask because this exact same argument was used to justify the many failed assassination attempts, the Bay of Pigs debacle and sanctions on Cuba where many Cuban Americans were anti-Castro.Now that might've been true but consider the source: many Cubans in America fled when Batista was ousted or in response to that. A famous example of that is Rafael Cruz, the father of Senator Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz famously said he hates co
Not supported by the people of the USA or the people of Venezuela?
I think this news has it's place on HN, just as well as other news on ACTA, net-neutrality, etc.. But some comments are really inappropriate to put so much political polarity on it.Venezuela is a country relatively "rebel" on US domination: that doesn't make it a devil, but that doesn't make it a angel either: comments on Chavez being a "dictator" seem inappropriate in this thread (what about a previous US president who cheated with voting machines then ?). Essentially, beware of not distorti
Things can not get worse for Venezuelans than they were under maduro
Boy is trying to outdo both Regan and Dubya. He didn't even try to sell it to us like they did with Iraq.Venezuelans, I'm sorry my shithole country is about to inflict a fascist puppet state on you. Nobody here gives enough of a shit despite all the chest-thumping and "MUH LIBERTY TREE". We'd rather have drum circles and ask for permission to dissent.
This comment reads as deeply ignorant and callous toward the treatment of the Venezuelan people by their government. Fully 1/3 of Venezuelans have fled the country due to repression and economic decline due to Maduro’s mismanagement. As someone who reads Spanish I can tell you the the media in non US aligned Latin American countries is regularly reporting on the dictatorship in Venezuela. Not everything is about oils or some conspiracy of western governments.
I am not saying USA did this for the people.I am saying that a wide majority of Venezolans are totally happy about this and most people here aren't concerned about this at all. They just want to talk about their pet political point.About what are the reasons behind this I (and most people commenting here) can only have educated guess, but I wouldn't discard so easily to weaken cartels as a reason. It is the third (Cuba and Nicaragua the others) Country they got to totally control
