Would my life be that much worse if I paid 10 bucks a month for google search?

rolph Oct 10, 2019 View on HN

nope! they have lots of money, they dont need more. seeing as this would be electronic payment, token 1cent per search, would likely intersect with a data grab as a brass ring. It would create one more reason to do "other than google"

Seems unlikely given the biggest search engine makes the majority of its money from ads :(

They have a paid option. It's paying or ads. Running a search engine is not free. Somebody has to pay for it.

How could search survive without ads? Charge users per search?

phendrenad2 Sep 17, 2021 View on HN

Search engines should be something you pay for. Surely search engine powerusers can afford to pay for such a service. If Google makes $1 per user per month or something, that's not too high a bar to get over.
