Not everyone can afford to buy TV-sized monitors
"I can't imagine the displays being used are very high quality" ??? if they provide the amount of savings outlined I doubt spending extra 200K on quality screens will be an issue
Because it's cheaper to buy a television rather than a monitor.
Won't monitors as big as TVs be much more expensive than TVs?
Why are you wasting money? You can get 5 27" monitors for the price of one of those and 3 or 4 43" 4ks for the price of both.
There are. It's just you can't get the good stuff for anywhere near smart TV prices
that looks like a price problem, not a tech problem. you said it yourself, the tech exist, just much pricier. And like the other person said, one of the reason is just basic scale. TV is multitude much bigger market than monitor ever is.
Alibaba. I'm just buying what are basically big monitors. I'm paying what feels like a premium price for a screen, one power and three HDMI input - only. Lack of other BS is the premium feature.Edit: down thread someone calls it "commercial display" - search for those.
I wish this wasn’t so expensive. $600 for 32”, $1000 for 42, up to $2600
My friend got a Samsung UN40KU6290 4K 40" TV as a monitor for around $250 during the holiday sales, and I think it's an absolute steal even at the regular price of $300. It does chroma 4:4:4, has best of class input lag, and the picture quality is decent too. But most importantly, you get the resolution of 4 1080P monitors for the price of 2, and the size is large enough to comfortably make use of all the desktop real estate without having to mess with scaling. It really baffles me h
