That is a joke because why I would use AirBnB, to have cheap accomodation with kitchen. If the price is around the same as hotel I could not care more. Hotels have to follow a lot of regulations and guest is always right in a hotel. Wi fi not working well, I got upgrade to better room, airbnb host cannot upgrade your room to one with view or else.

That kind of service (AirBnB or otherwise) has a few things going for it:1) "whole place" rentals are really nice if you're traveling with kids. Like, really nice.2) It used to often be cheaper to get an apartment or entire house through AirBnB to get any but a bottom-tier hotel (granted, much less true now)3) It gives you a lot more location flexibility. Ordinary neighborhoods or apartment buildings like a local, maybe walkable to a bunch of cool stuff that's

Personally I think AirBnb had its time.To me AirBnb is like a hotel, except:- No gym, sauna and other SPA facilities included- No breakfast buffet, restaurants or room service available- No room upgrades available- No early check in/late check out available- No 24/7 access available- No reception desk 24/7 available where I can ask for good recommendations, learn a bit more about the place without feeling awkward to ask or risk being sucked into a long unneces

To me a hotel and an airbnb are 2 totally different products. I prefer using airbnb (or vrbo) because I can get an entire house (yes I know this is technically possible with a hotel, but typically not) with a kitchen, multiple bedrooms, etc.And I shouldn't jinx myself, but I've used Airbnbs on every trip I've taken, and I've yet to run into a real show stopping problem. Not saying it doesn't happen, just pointing out that it's not as frequent as you are making it

I've used AirBnb around the world (entire apartment, not shared), so let's look at the advantages you mentioned...1. You typically get more space than a hotel, and a kitchen. Currently I'm living in an entire 2 story house in a city center that I rented off AirBnb. It was a third of the cost of a cheap hotel room for a short term stay. Remember, you can negotiate prices on AirBnb, I've never paid full price, and typically get 20 - 70% off depending on the length of stay.<p

I typically see AirBnB's as the more expensive option. I travel frequently and have shifted back towards hotels. They are easier to book, peace of mind, points or rewards, concierge services, the list goes on. The main reason for an AirBnB is larger spaces, unique designs, and areas with low hotel density.

The only time it seems reasonable to use AirBnb is when you’re traveling with a large group to a set destination; then you can rent a whole house and split up chores. Otherwise, you wind up paying just slightly less to stay in a place without service, meals, concierge etc usually far away from any attractions you might be interested in. I haven’t personally had any bad AirBnB experiences, but hotels have so many advantages and aren’t all that costly.

AirBnB failed. I don't even check it out anymore when I travel because a hotel typically costs about the same due to the fees charged by the hosts. I would choose a hotel over AirBnB until the price difference is 15-20% lower in favor of AirBnB because there are too many unknowns with AirBnB and the novelty has worn off entirely. Plus since so many listings are owned by some company or person renting out multiple locations, whats the difference any more?

Why are they using AirBnb rather than hotels, is it just price or is there something hotels don’t offer?

Airbnb doesn't replace cheapo hotels. It replaces expensive hotels. People go to airbnbs because hotels are too expensive for them.
