Fact: you'll care less about this stuff once you have a lot of money.

I would be disappointed to think like a billionaire and then realize that I don't have enough money to buy basic things, sad. So better to think about the things you can pay for and enjoy with.

Yes but I want to say to anyone who wants to do thisGive the money away!Someone else can do so much more with it.It really annoys me when people do the "I'm a billionaire who drives a pinto" thing.Either splurge or give but don't just sit on it.

To become a billionaire, of course!I mean, yeah, I wouldn't care, life's too short not to use the money for something.

It sounds like you need some perspective. You have more wealth than nearly everyone else on Earth. What more do you want?

Working 8 years to get to more than 100,000,000 $ and saying no to that...Maybe I'm just too poor to understand that. Sure, this is hackernews, so the hustle mindset is stronger here, but the difference you could make in others people lives just with 10 % of that...I mean, you could house, feed or educate people and you chose to...not do that ? To have more ? Is there a endgame you are not sharing with us, a special number that would make it OK to sell ?

Maybe when you're worth $40bn or whatever and you plan to give 99% of it away for philanthropic purposes, you don't need to live life with such a miserly attitude?

it only doesn't make sense if you plan to individually spend that money on yourself. However once you have billions of dollars it becomes relatively difficult to spend that much on yourself. Therefore it becomes a place to spend money enacting the change on society that you want to see.

If I had that much money, I'd found a company focusing on creating real value instead of just sales volume. Employ old people, enable direct trusted donations to African schools (Crypto?), make an app to teach 3rd world women how to treat their first baby, introduce and establish a social coin to reward caregivers... It's a great feeling to make the world a better place. And there are endless possibilities to help making the world a bit better each day if you don't have to waste

For the author: Getting all that money without the life experience to build some values or ambitions for your impact on the world is proof enough that your fortune is just random luck. There are millions who have put more thought into life and had no financial reward for it. Give it to them, or get a life for yourself. Then you'll know what to do.
