hey, european here. we like cashless payments, but walking around without any paper/coins would be asking for trouble at the random counter. countless times of taxi's card reader could not connect, card was not recognized, small payments not supported etc.
I live in the US and almost never use cash. Is this not the norm?
Cash is not accepted everywhere. Lots of countries are nearly cashless, with small merchants already unable to accept cash.
Wonddered the same thing. Also what if you dont want your purchases to end up in the cloud. Can you still pay with cash?
They have a cash option apparently. I know some US places have a law against places that don't take cash.
I live in Canada.I haven't actually had actual cash in my wallet since before Christmas. Every store takes credit or debit. I can email money to people I owe money to. Cash is darn inconvenient.Giving money to homeless people is just about the only thing in your list I can't do.We also have contact-less payments with both credit or debit so it's even faster for low cost purchase. Need a coffee from starbucks? Just tap your credit card and go. But the time you put the wall
There are a lot of places in the world that are pure cash only too. You won't be able to use your card either way.
Again, it depends. E.g. in Switzerland you can still pay using cash.
In Canada (at least in southern BC) almost everyone uses their credit or debit card for almost everything. Cashiers assume it and if you hand them cash they'll often have to back out of the transaction they already set up on the debit machine and sometimes even say "you're the first person to pay with cash today". It doesn't matter if you're buying a TV for $2000 or coffee for $2.
Aren't people allowed to carry cash?
