Mouse Scroll Wheel Issues

Users complain about a website or tool's scrolling being poor with mouse scroll wheels, smoother on trackpads and touch surfaces like Magic Mouse, with debates on acceleration, natural direction, and OS differences especially on Mac.

Thanks! Did you try it with a trackpad/touch or mouse? Did you discover left/right scrolling?

The scrollwheel trend needs to go away. It isn't smooth at all with a wheel on desktop.

the "natural scroll direction" is shared for mice and the trackpad, so you can't have mice and the trackpad scroll different without third party software

That website seems to assume nobody uses a mouse's scroll wheel. Kind of frustrating.

I've been using this mouse for over 10 years! I do the something similar for scrolling except I use the app MarbleScroll which makes scrolling a lot easier on Windows at least. I wish this mouse had a dedicated scroll wheel.

It's great for touch-based scrolling, it's terrible for a clicky wheel

The magic mouse has that type of scrolling as a setting you can enable.

Yes, it's rather awkward on non-discrete scrolling systems like trackpads and trackpoints.

The mouse has a scroll wheel, so the gesture is the same. Also you can turn on scrollbars. Also the gesture works on Apple mice.

Using the mouse to scroll at a good pace is impossible. It always skips over bits and does the floaty thing.
