Sounds like any bureaucracy. The government doesn't have a monopoly on inefficiency.
"The problem with corruption, inefficieny and ignorance in government is corruption, inefficiency and ignorance, not government".Let's not put the cart before the horse, shall we? Yes, all human organizations can suffer from these things (and maybe some more than others). But that's not a reason in and of itself to dismiss an entire class of human organizations as irretrievably doomed.Look at what the UK government's digital service has done: absolutely outstanding
Unfortunately 'governments' and 'efficiency' don't seem to go well together.
Trying to make a Government efficient is a fools errand.
More common:1. Recognize "government is inefficient"2. Use as an excuse to give the inefficient more with which to be inefficient3. Goto step 1Recognizing people are bad at some things doesn't mean it's a money problem nor does it mean that comparing different environments is apt.
Governments are not known for their efficiency. There are many reasons for that, for example working as part of the government comes with many rigid checks and bureaucracy, there is no competition so you can be arbitrarily inefficient, and there are no real consequences for anyone.I would know, I work for the government.
Because "government efficiency" is an oxymoron?
The US government isn't supposed to be efficient. Quite the opposite, really.
Sounds like a job that needs competence, and they don't seem to have much of that in the government.
Might not be government "waste", but it is a perfect example of government inefficiency!
