Etherium seems quite promising. They recently moved to Proof of Stake, which gets around many issues with Bitcoin like energy consumption, miner consolidation, and 51% attacks (it would by definition be more expensive to pull off than you could possibly gain by faking a transaction). Add to that the possibility of staking Etherium and you have an asset that generates returns.

Ether is not a currency like Bitcoin. Ethereum is a pure platform play that enables multiple Bitcoin competitors to rapidly experiment and find the product-market fit of crypto-currencies in the real world.I believe there can be a crypto-currency with better properties than Bitcoin.Once one of these Ethereum apps finds their hockey stick, Ether will continue to play its role in securing the Ethereum network for this killer app which removes the need for both Ether and Bitcoin to play the r

BTC not likely... other protocols are more than likely.

Bitcoin is dead. Long live Litecoin! Also Ether is just a sound investment. They're willing to make hard forks which allows the protocol to be updated (an no one seems to care). Bitcoin has trouble with that and it can only sustain so many BTC/XBT and Bitcoin Cashes. First mover is not always a good thing! Not to mention lots leaving circulation because its such a new thing.

There are thousands of other cryptocurrencies that claim to have better tech than Bitcoin in terms of privacy, speed or fees. This is the case of having a better technology doesn't matter, Bitcoin came at a very lucky time and also grew organically for many years and had arguably the fairest coin distributions (most coins nowadays are shilled very heavily by it's developers and investors). It's also the most secure and well-known.Because of those things, it'll be very di

Bitcoin is the gateway into crypto. Check the marketcap, and all the pairs are tied to BTC on most major exchanges. It's also the most secure and has the largest community. It's use case is different than Ethereum's.
