Discussions center on a visualization or experiment depicting photon trajectories, debating quantum vs. classical interpretations like scattering in translucent media, single-photon sources, wavelengths, upconversion, and light's wave-particle nature.

Why is visible-light wavelength a limitation? Energy requirements?

klysm Aug 10, 2024 View on HN

How can this be attributed to light instead of other EM waves floating around

This is the experience of a photon.

The light is being put through a translucent medium, like shining a laser through milk or smoke or something, so you can see the scattered light. Conventional/non-QM-based light physics can handle this situation. If you mean, how are they seeing the non-scattered light, you are correct that they are not.

You're perceiving the photons wrong.

beebmam Oct 19, 2021 View on HN

Photons don't, for counterexample

dTal Dec 11, 2021 View on HN

Excuse me, some photons appear to be leaking off your property and onto mine.

bowejg Dec 8, 2021 View on HN

It's using upconversion so it's 'powered' by the shorter wavelength light shining onto it

What's your source of single photons?
