Nothing about the dismantling of the US government at any time interval? Seems hard to trust
Elon and Vivek have no authority to close a federal agency, and Trump doesn’t either. We’re currently in the bloviating stage of this election cycle; once attention dies down I fully expect DOGE to achieve very little and to die a slow death. The sad part of all of this is that the government could absolutely be more efficient than it currently is, while still providing the same services. But that’d take serious thought and consensus building, which the incoming administration has no desire
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not trolling.3 reasons come to mind -1. There's a vast and profound difference between trimming inefficiencies ("cutting waste") and eliminating a valuable function. It's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.2. This entire administration and its main actors have given zero reason to assume what they are doing is in good faith. In fact, quite the opposite they have incited worry that their motiva
YupAnd it is not even the intent of his actions, it is the haphazard, chainsaw slash-&-burn, "move fast and break things" way he is doing them. The same thing was done by Al Gore in the 1990s, cutting 250,000 federal jobs, eliminating 100+ programs, and consolidating over 800 agencies [0], all without creating these kinds of programs — specifically because Gore CONSIDERED all the issues and players and worked with congress to get it all done in a rational, and mo
Exactly. I think some of the things in Trump/Musk’s crosshairs are legitimately a waste of money and focus, and if worth having, would be better controlled by the more accountable state level. Some, like CFPB, are obviously much better off not being deleted, but tbh the things anyone can make a convincing case for, can just be reestablished later, without the sprawling cruft they’ve accumulated in 25-90 years of existence.I do wish it was someone smarter doing this, but only a President
I'm guessing this is part of VP Musk's "grand plan to cut government waste", with his Twitter-style "shoot first, ask questions later" approach.
You can get a president who wants to dismantle your whole department
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/18Fwe had an agency that was actually doing this, and fairly well by most accounts. it was shut down by the Trump administration.never forget that we can have nice things, if we don't let people take them away from us.
The current administration doesn't believe in facts, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were to shutdown the very thing that is going to stop them, Americans. The FCC office goes by there own agenda(Trumps) not the American people.
> Trump tasked "DOGE" with reviewing government spending across it's 400+ agencies, and coming up with recommendations on how to reduce wasteful spending."Make recommendations" ?Firing the folks that maintain nuclear weapons sounds like an action, not a recommendation:* https://apnews.com/article
