Those seats are huge compared to airline seats. If you had that much space in the airline seat this wouldn't be nearly as necessary.
Unfortunately not all carriers give more space to economy passengers in an A380. Qatar Airways for example, pack the seats in just as tight. I actively choose against A380s for my long flights because the aircraft feels like a flying city as opposed to a flying village. An A350 or 787 provide a far superior passenger experience in my opinion.
I find it really hard to agree with you. Maybe you flew exclusively in business or first class?> its not 11 abreast pack-em-in which is what the 787 has done787 is designed for 8-abreast seating. In reality, carriers almost always went for 9-abreast. 11-abreast is physically impossible. It is possible in an A380 though, and airlines are really considering it.> ... and its a premium quality experienceHow is flying on an A380 premium experience? When you pack more people in the s
And you thought legroom was bad now....
The A380 has higher ceilings than other planes. Doesn't help the knees but makes it feel a lot more airy.
Seats configuration depends on air company, not the plane. Check seatguru.com before buying tickets, or better buy/upgrade to exit row seats.
Some pictures would help. Most airline seats I have used for the last few years have had wings - how are these different?
The cabin is a bit wider than standard a320. They advertise 18" wide seats. If they are 32" apart that's ok. It can even fit lie flat business class seats. And if it means flying direct instead of changing planes in a busy overcrowded airport and having to lose time waiting and queuing (and "saving the planet") that's pretty appealing
I flew it couple of times. For me it's nicer because of 2-3 seating - smaller % of middle seats and if you're flying with someone you can take 2 seats next to each other. Also economy seats are slightly wider (0.5-1 inch) which is not much but still appreciated. They are definitely felt much nicer and quieter than smaller planes like Embraer E175 or E195.
The 777 is a great and safe plane, but check seat configurations - many have 9 abreast (either 3-3-3 or 2-5-2), but some operators (Emirates, Qatar, some United, AA, Air France) put in 10 seats (3-4-3), and that gets very tight. Some airlines operate both, so check (http://www.seatguru.com).I find the A380 much more comfortable and quiet, still better (for pax) than 777, and even 787 and A350.All of the above for econ
