Riots don't really work, for the most part. And anyway, no one is actually being harmed by this -- at least not in a way that they could see or guess.

Do, please, provide citations that support your assertions that here on HN, people are arguing that riots are a positive thing that raise awareness.
There were millions of people in the streets, and the number of violent events was disproportionately small, and was an _excuse_ used by unaffiliated people to loot. To this date there is no association between BLM protesters at large and any willful intent to cause damage at scale or destabilize democracy.
None of those are the same thing as what was described. One is describing riots, not calling for them..

People aren't rioting because they're bored and cooped up. They're protesting extrajudicial killings.
