Doesn’t that stop a user from using copy and paste?

There are cases where it's fine to access the clipboard without me pasting. My reddit app for example auto-detects reddit-links on my clipboard and asks if I want to open the link in the app if it finds one

There are ways to do this which do not involve giving any random website full reign over your clipboard.

I copy paste between web apps all the time...

Is there a safer clipboard alternative that can only be accessed by other apps with explicit user action/permission (like pressing Ctrl-V)?

Some environments don’t allow copy and paste. For example blackberry work (depending on configuration) on a private phone.

How about requesting clipboard access in the first place?

heyoni May 14, 2019 View on HN

There’s an extension called “don’t fuck with paste” on chrome for that.

My clipboard can still be gleaned with an arbitrary API call in other apps. Please leave my clipboard alone in other apps. They have no business being able to grab it without my permission

I hope there is a setting to never allow websites to touch the clipboard.
