Yes, I heard about that one (it's hard not to). This is an interesting read I think: (apologies for the source)http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1307137/Su...
What a weird way to conclude an article, to suggest that an Antarctic bus will be remembered as coming from an era of "McMurdo’s persistent culture of sexual harassment".Then when you click through that article you can read about, among other things, a case where "the AP generally does not identify those who say they have been sexually assaulted unless they publicly identify themselves".But they have qualms about including the name of the supposed attacker, who y
I've never flagged a story before but I'm flagging this one. Nobody on HN has enough information to evaluate the the events described in this link. Rape is bad, and false accusations are bad, and we'll never get to the bottom of this. But I resent the attempt to drag us into this rathole of a discussion.
The headline is particularly suspicious - had any of these hypothetical women mentioned this to anyone it would have been an immediate scandal of mammoth proportions. He's probably lying for attention. Or, charitably, the news is misinterpreting him on purpose for some reason. I don't feel like investigating to find out which.
I created a new account because my old one would get downvoted because my username was arguably offensive. I got tired of that.I'm not sure what I'd be asking you to buy here. I'm neither siding with or against OP. I'm just making a point about levels of proof needed regarding actions by someone who is beloved by the public. This isn't really controversial. Look how many allegations it took to sway people about Bill Cosby, for example.
What?a) From Wikipedia: The allegations were from buzzfeed, and were later unsubstantiated in an official enquiry with the 'victim' who said "she did not feel victimized, felt it was a clumsy interpersonal interaction and thought she had handled it in the moment."b) What does this have to do with his opinion on the doomsday clock?Honestly this outrage culture, and mob mentality is pathetic.

iirc, she settled at some point with an accuser too...anyways, i am impressed by how much conspiracy the whole story has garnered so far. even hn does not seem immune to this one.this is just weird!
I'm not saying that the existence of porn is supposed to hurt his reputation. I'm saying the fact that he would violate somebody in this way should hurt his reputation. The porn is just evidence of his doing this. I'm in no way trying to diminish this lady's situation. On the contrary, it makes me angry and I would want to see this guy see some serious consequences for it.
The probable reason is that somebody did not like my reporting on the fairly obvious "sextortion" scams, in this piece https://bsdly.blogspot.com/2020/02/the-sextortion-scams-numb... which is also available as https:
