This is your regular reminder that Russian interference in the US election of 2016 took the form of discouraging Democrats to vote by telling them that both parties were just the same. So, when Hacker News is suddenly full of topics like this, with commenters earnestly agreeing with each other that both parties are just the same and nothing will ever change, it’s worth being a little skeptical.

Perhaps there is evidence as others have suggested (as I am sure there is of US involvement in Russian affairs). In fact it would be surprising if Russia weren't at it. This is after all the age of cyber warfare so it is extremely unlikely that all major powers aren't trying to coerce the system to their advantage. That said it seems that most of the Russian scare tactics are coming out of the Hilary camp as an attempt to deflect from her own shortcomings. Every time something illegal

A lot of people in the US still don't believe Russians interfered in the election, and/or that they interfered to support Trump's candidacy. I believe this is mostly designed to show them (1) yes, they were doing a lot, and (2) it was aimed at disparaging Clinton and supporting Trump.Similarly, the US government hasn't really taken any steps to prevent future meddling in US elections.
