Why is diversity hiring fine then? Can't see the difference
Considering the "diversity" makeup of most tech companies is still pretty much unchanged despite a focus on hiring from more sources, this (a) isn't true, and (b) you're bigoted.
This feels reminiscent of 'diversity hires' where females and/or members of the LGBT+ community are preferred not because of competency/merit but to improve a company's diversity metrics. Disclaimer: I haven't experienced this myself. I only read/heard of these complaints from other people.
Sounds like something for the diversity hires.
Any companies out there who are explicitly NOT into this diversity BS?
Because it's not impossible that there are non diversity hires that fuck projects up.
why is diversity good? forced diversity seems very contrived. why should the percentage of women hired be higher than the number that graduate from school with a CS degree?
Diversity hire, not diversity.
Google "diversity quotas" or "hiring targets". If you are explicitly demanding a disproportionate number of minority candidates, you are disadvantaging other candidates.
Sure but here at HN hiring for diversity is discrimination. Totally makes sense.
